Doing the Seminar Registration Process Right
The first thing that people see when they show up at one of your events is how you handle the registration process.
I have done this both well and poorly.
I’ll share my experiences so that you can make sure and do it right!
First off, make it clear WHERE one is supposed to “check-in”. The best way to do this is with signage. Make sure it indicates the name of the EVENT as well as YOUR name. Make sure to tell ALL the hotel staff both of those items as well.
Second, once they get to the registration table, have a few volunteers to staff the table to make it easy for people to get served quickly.
Third, alphabetize the names of those who are PRE registered and have their name badges sitting out for them to see. I once had someone grab someone else’s badge and CLAIM to be that person to try and get in for free, but that doesn’t happen often.
Fourth, give them ALL the “STUFF” you want to give them at that time. Make sure to keep some back up materials, because inevitably some of the folks will LOSE that same stuff.
Fifth, make the badges you hand out easy to see and easy for YOU to identify what “type” of an attendee they are. You can make this segregation any way that you feel helps you to better serve them.
Doing all of the above will help you do the registration process BETTER and get the event off to a GREAT start.
