Seminar Room Set Up
How you set up your room may seem to be an afterthought. Something that doesn’t need any thinking on your part.
Hardly so.
The way you set up the seminar/workshop room is crucial for creating the MOOD you want. It will also help facilitate learning if done correctly.
There are a few standard ways to set up your seminar room.
First is CLASSROOM style. This is what most people use. It is where there are tables in front of chairs so people can write without a problem.
For any event over 2 or 3 hours this is mandatory.
If you don’t give this to people, they will complain. The only exception is an extremely LOW PRICED event that goes for a full day. At those prices, people will TOLERATE the lack of a writing surface.
Second is theater style. This is what I’ve just described above. You pack as many seats into a room with no tables. That’s what is called theater style.
Your third option is what is called ROUNDS. This is where you use round tables for people to sit at. This is a great choice when people are being asked to do a lot of group exercises and it works very well for that purpose.
There you have it! Depending on the kind of event you’re doing, those are your choices!!
