Seminar Tip: “Night-Before” Get Together
One of the things I’ve been doing before EVERY event I do is to have a meeting with the attendees the night before we officially get started.
It doesn’t matter if I have a LONG or a SHORT event, I arrange to meet everyone who is in town from 6-8PM the night before the start of my seminar or workshop.
I recommend that you do the same.
I usually hold this event at a local bar or hotel bar that is close to where the actual event is being held. If people are in town already, they are usually staying near by. This makes it easy for them to find the place the next morning as well.
Even if just 20% of the people show up for this little gathering, it doesn’t matter. You’ll get to meet SOME of the folks who will be attending. This will make it so that when you get going the next morning, you’ll have already established some friendships.
Those who don’t show up to that event may feel a little left out when they hear you talking about what happened the night before, but on balance it is definitely a net positive.
Your own level of nervousness and tension will be lowered and the overall perception of your event will be substantially improved if you do this.
If you have other guest speakers who will be at your event, encourage them to come along to say HI both to YOU and the attendees.
